Cake Decorating- April 2010

For our April cooking group we were privileged to have Jacinda teach us all the tips and tricks to making our own Marshmallow Fondant.

Marshmallow Fondant

1 16 oz. bag of miniature marshmallows
3-4 tablespoons of water
2 lbs. powdered sugar (8 cups)
Place marshmallows in a microwave safe bowl and add water. Put in the microwave for about 30 seconds on high.  Take out and stir with a spoon. Repeat microwave and stirring steps until mixture is a "soupy" consistency.  Then add the sugar a little bit at a time, mix and knead until it resembles dough.  You may not need all the powdered sugar.

Sometimes you can substitute some of the water with extract to flavor the fondant.

Smaller Recipe

1 cup packed mini marshmallows
1 Tbsp water
1 1/2 - 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar

(follow same steps as larger recipe)

After we all became experts on making our own fondant Jacinda taught us how to make some lovely gum-paste flowers.

The finished product!

We took some pictures before we devoured it.  Yummy!

Another successful cooking group.  We learned so much and thanks to Jacinda for teaching us.  You can visit her website here.

 {if anyone has any thing to add about the recipe, products or ideas from this class please leave a comment below. Thanks!}
